Both Sofia and her brother Alex were born in Seattle, Washington, where they became part of their first Catholic community in Sacred Heart Parish. In 2007, their family moved to South Florida and became part of a new Parish. Ever since joining St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Sofia’s mother, Paula, had her volunteer in various Church events and women’s organization functions. In 2011, Sofia began singing in her Church’s choir and in 2013, Sofia joined St. Bonaventure’s youth group. She helped lead Confirmation retreats for eighth graders while attending women’s organization meetings and planning Christmas and Easter events for young children.
In 2015, the Bryant family moved to Orlando, where Sofia had to leave her Catholic high school and St. Bonaventure community to create ties with a new Church community. Once settled in Orlando, she began working on the Extra Innings Foundation and collecting used baseball equipment. Sofia is now a senior at Bishop Moore Catholic and just recently joined her school’s Peer Ministry group. She is also a co-teacher to high school students receiving Confirmation at her local parish.
Since the age of four, Alex knew he wanted to play baseball. His parents involved him in tee-ball and REC ball at the YMCA until he began playing travel baseball in 2011. Alex played for many travel teams in South Florida until 2015, when the Bryants moved to Orlando. Alex is currently a freshman at Bishop Moore Catholic and plays for the Orlando Scorpions. He also volunteers at various Church functions with his sister.
